Trainer demonstrating scooter control to two learners

The practical two-wheeler test checks whether you can control your vehicle calmly. Most failures come from small, fixable mistakes.

What the test usually checks

  • Figure 8. Riding an "8" shape slowly without putting your feet down.
  • Slow-speed balance. Staying steady at walking pace.
  • Starting and stopping smoothly where you're asked.
  • Indicators and observation when turning.

Common reasons people fail

  1. Putting a foot down during the figure 8.
  2. Too much speed in the turns of the 8.
  3. Forgetting indicators.
  4. Sudden braking that makes the vehicle wobble.

How to practise the figure 8

Look ahead to the next curve, not at the front wheel. Keep the throttle steady and very gentle, and use the rear brake lightly to control speed. Practise both directions.
